People are too scared to take a chance and therefore nothing gets accomplished, just like in real life. Many people play the game like ArmA when they should play it more like COD. What is that blinking icon at the bottom of my screen? That's an objective and you can see it on your HUD.īasic movement skills and reaction times are just not there. It is extremely frustrating seeing how bad a lot of people are at the game. This is a huge reason why veteran and skilled players do not continuously play the game. The biggest issue Insurgency has is that the public games are not that fun for experienced/good players because of how bad the general population is. It's 3 years post release and NWI announced over a year ago that they were coming out with a new Insurgency. For a long time, they were just a bunch of developers working at starbucks during the day and programming at night. NWI never used conventional marketing methods. Insurgency, for it's budget, is extremely popular. I think your analysis is 50% accurate at best but I do see the comical tone splashed on top.
Ever played basketball or soccer with adults or kids? Ever tried to race your friend down the slopes? Usually people are competitive purely for sport. It's called being competitive and can be seen in real life in many things like the job market, spell bees, and club sports. Players that tend to troll or act like fuckheads tend to get kicked quickly because everyone else knows that the game is a co-op game, even if its against another team of humans.īut also its not super-hyped or some kind of eSports scene where douchebags fight for attention to soothe their insecurities. Lastly its low on toxicity, no one really cares about how good you are because its super-rare to see some lone player actually be effective and win against a barely organized team. You aren't carrying guns that look like something the retarded grown-up child of a billionaire would own (sure you can get these weapon skins in the workshop, but it doesn't lead to everything looking unicorn vomit). A number of game types emphasise players working together instead of just aiming for more kills, also the absence of any kind of killstreak reward doesn't result in creating absurdly one-sided scenarios because success strips any challenge away.
The gameplay is slower paced than contemporaries, caution is going to keep you in play, and lots of small effects prevent camping from degenerating games into boring as fuck grinds. I find most players tend to be a bit older and can relate to the cynicism. Insugency isn't about being elite commandos when you play as security, you're cynical veterans that view every day as a new shit covered opportunity for something to fuck-up, reluctantly chasing money in a job that will probably kill them. Realism isn't actually involved because what they do is unrealistic. Other shooters, mostly 3 letter names, are about being an elite soldier, and purport to be realistic, but to enable the fantasy, the remove so much of what that concept demands.
Its not an instant gratification, off-the-wall, high concept, power fantasy. Promotional content may be removed if the poster does not meaningfully contribute to the subreddit.
